So I present to you the legend that is Benoit Mandelbrot. Hes the mathematician behind fractal geometry. I have been doing research for a new science arts project I am working on making links to architecture, society and biology. There are so many aspects of his work but my interest is his interest of how mathematical created ‘Natural Fractals’ can explain the shapes of landscapes i.e mountains, coasts and biological structures i.e. blood vessels and lungs. Click here for an interview with the man carried out by Paola Antonelli of Seed (Seed is a post in itself – heading science arts at the moment). For those TED fans see his talk. He unfortunately died in 2010, a true genius, but leave me with a seed of a new arts piece.
